Texas Hold’em Rules: Cards and Betting Rounds
Two private cards, five community cards and the pre-flop, flop, turn and river sequence in Texas Hold’em.
By PokerClubIndia Editorial · · 1 min read
In Texas Hold’em each player receives two private cards and shares five community cards. The betting rounds are pre-flop, flop, turn and river. This guide separates those core concepts from general poker rules and event-specific arrangements.
Private cards and community cards
The two private cards belong to a player’s own view of the hand. The community cards are shared. Understanding that distinction is the starting point for following this variant rather than confusing it with every game described as poker.
The betting-round sequence
The existing sequence is pre-flop, flop, turn and river. Read those names in order when following a hand. General betting actions such as fold, check, call, bet and raise are introduced in the poker-rules overview; this sequence explains the terminology specific to the progression of a Hold’em hand.
Hand rankings are a separate reference
The hand-rankings guide lists the order from Royal Flush to High Card. Use it as a reference while learning the variant, rather than confusing a betting round’s name with a type of hand.
Confirm the event format
Before attending a listed tournament, check its format and organiser notes. A general guide does not establish a venue’s house rules, entry arrangements or a particular event schedule. Confirm those details with the organising club.
